[Photo: nation.co.ke]As Kenyans prepare for the repeat presidential poll slated for October 26, a number of remarkable things may happen and impact significantly on the controversial poll. And what are they? Well, you don't need nuclear science to be able to foresee the likelihood of these four things happening.First, IEBC Chairman Wafula Chebukati could resign. There is no doubt that Chebukati could make good his threat and resign if a statement he issued on Wednesday is anything to go by."As the referee, I want to issue a stern warning to the players in this game on all sides that they should stop all attempts to interfere with the process. Let me and my commission do our job and we shall deliver. Interfere as you have been doing and we get stuck as a country," Chebukati said on Wednesday. There is no other way Chebukati could 'stuck' the country other than resigning and throwing the whole October 26 exercise into disarray.Second, Uhuru could have Parliament recalled from recess. This, according to the Star on Friday, would be to pass a memorandum by President Kenyatta that would mitigate the impact of Chebukati's resignation. The memorandum would 'suggest' that the chairman need no longer be a lawyer meaning the bar is dropped and any commissioner can declare Uhuru the winner, virtually unopposed. This is the reason, pundits say, Uhuru has delayed in signing the electoral amendments bill, 2017 into law.Three, NASA leader Raila Odinga could 'reconsider' his decision that could see him participate in October 26 poll. This is evident from his statement on Thursday after he met Chebukati for 40 minutes."If proper consultations are done and if proper reforms are carried out, and those fears that we raised are addressed, then we will reconsider our withdrawal decision," Odinga said. Finally, Raila could be jailed. Yes, Raila could end up in the coolers. This is if he is found guilty of contempt of court. Jubilee Party moved to the Supreme Court on Thursday seeking orders to cite NASA Presidential candidate Raila Odinga for contempt of court over his declaration that there will be no election on October 26.Jubilee accuses Raila of engaging in 'illegal, unlawful and disrespectful conduct', according to the petition filed by Jubilee secretary general Raphael Tuju.
