Confirming the incident Nakuru Traffic Commandant Joseph Mwangi said that the accident occurred when a personal car was trying to over take another car but a lorry that was behind pushed it forward causing the accident.

“The two cars were heading to Nairobi from Nakuru but on reaching Gilgil Weighbridge one car tried to over take the other one and in the process a lorry that was behind it came and pushed it forward killing two passengers on the spot," said Mwangi.

“Other two passengers died on their way to hospital while another passenger stained serious injures," added Mwangi.

Mwangi said that those who died were taken to St Mary Mortuary.

Mwangi warned motorists against violating traffic rules. He urged traffic police to enforce traffic rules and regulations to tame road accidents.

“I urge drivers to be careful on roads and respect other road users," said Mwangi.

Mwangi said that those contravening traffic directives will be arrested and charged in court.
