Four people have been confirmed dead after a fight between residents of Tora Estate in Juja Kiambu County and herders from Kajiado.
Among the four was a middle aged woman Jacinta Muigai Kibe who is a mother of four. Kibe had woken up on Sunday to milk her cows when she noticed a herd of cows in her farm.
She was confronting the herders when one of them attacked her with an arrow leaving her dead.
According to eyewitnesses, Kibe screamed for help during the attack when villagers descended on the herders as they took her to Thika Level Five Hospital.
The herders, five in number, were thoroughly roughed up by residents leaving three of them dead and two critically injured.
Kiambu county commander Adwel Nyange confirmed the incident and said that police have begun investigations into the incident.
Nyange toured Kibe's home with security officers and local leaders who later convened a meeting with herders who had invaded the area in search of pasture and addressed them.
Nyange also orders that the animals be seized pending investigations and and talks to discuss way foward.
