Opposition leaders Musalia Mudavadi and Orengo inspect the vandalised tallying centre in Westlands. standardmedia.co.keTwo Ghanians, an American and a Canadian who had been invited by NASA to help manage its presidential votes tallying centre have been deported, Siaya Senator James Orengo has claimed.
The four, Orengo said on Saturday are election and IT experts who were expected to advice the opposition coalition on how to effectively manage one of its tallying centres.
Orengo made the remarks after it emerged that unknown people raided a NASA tallying centre located at Westlands in Nairobi on Friday night and made away with laptops, desktop computers and other electronic devices.
“As we speak now our friends from America and Canada were arrested and taken to the airport yesterday (Friday),” Orengo said in an interview with a local TV station.
“We haven’t been able to talk to them and we are not sure if they are still in the country.”
He said the two Ghanian nationals were blocked from entering the country at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport on Friday and were ordered to return to Ghana.
Orengo said NASA has alerted both the police and US ambassador Robert Godec about the incidents.
He said police were yet to respond to NASA after reporting the raid incident to the law enforcers.
