Gor Mahia strikers George Odhiambo, Jacques Tuyisenge, and Meddie Kagere have been shortlisted for the inaugural Sports Journalists Association of Kenya Player of the Year award.

The three scored a combined 32 goals to help K’Ogalo win a record 16th Kenyan Premier League title.

The trio will battle it out with their captain, Musa Mohammed, and last year’s winner, Kenneth Muguna, for the top accolade.

KPL golden boot winner Masoud Juma has also been nominated for the award alongside Posta Rangers goalkeeper Patrick Matasi and Nzoia Sugar midfielder Lawrence Juma.

The association yesterday unveiled the list of nominees in eight categories of the LG Electronics-sponsored football gala to be held on December 18 at Jacaranda Hotel.

Kariobangi Sharks’ William Muluya and Kakamega Homeboyz’s Mike Mururi headline the coach of the year category. Others are Bernard Mwalala (Nzoia Sugar), Sammy Omollo (Posta Rangers), and Sam Ssimbwa (Sofapaka).
