Four youth were on Monday arraigned before an Eldoret court accused of trying to disrupt a political rally of Elgeyo Marakwet gubernatorial candidate on an Independent ticket, Moses Changwony.

The four are among 30 people who allegedly stormed into the rally of the candidate at Metkei area carrying posters of his competitor governor Alex Tolgos.

They tried to disrupt the meeting but Changwony's supporters overpowered them before they were arrested by the police.

While appearing before Eldoret Principe Magistrate Charles Obulutsa, the four did not take a plea after their lawyer Ledisha Kittony Kipseii requested for more time to understand the charges her clients are facing.

This comes even as police are pursuing leaders of the youth.

Changwony who is mounting a strong challenge against governor Tolgos on his part advised the youths to shun leaders out to misuse them for personal political gains.

"It's unfortunate that some politicians have resorted to using innocent youths to disrupt competitors political rallies and I would like young young people to be wary of such leaders," he noted.
