Four people sustained injuries when a lorry rammed into a tuktuk at Msambweni area in Kwale County.Msambweni OCPD Joseph Chebusit who confirmed the incident said the tuktuk was ferrying three passengers when the Tuesday 6pm accident occurred.Speaking to journalists on Wednesday, Mr Chebusit said the driver and his three passengers sustained injuries.The OCPD said the lorry rammed into the tuktuk from behind, which then rammed into a saloon car.“It was a Coca-Cola company lorry which was involved in the incident. The driver of the lorry escaped unhurt while the four were taken to hospital for treatment,” said the OCPD.Mr Mwatete Tinde, an eyewitness, said that one of the passengers was a pregnant woman.The witness said the lorry’s brakes failed, causing it to ram into the tuktuk which had slowed down due to traffic congestion.“The tuktuk was hit by the lorry from behind and it, in turn, knocked the saloon car and became sandwiched between the two vehicles,” said Tinde, as quoted by Baraka FM.The OCPD said investigations into the incident have been launched.
