Kisumu County Assembly has forwarded four names of the MCAs to ODM party as the possible candidates for the position of acting majority leader following the suspension of Samuel Ong’ou.
A source at the assembly who sought to remain anonymous said the party requested for the names including names of MCAs to act as deputy majority leader in the position that was held by John Olum also on suspension.
MCAs Aggrey Ogosi, Maina Koko, Elijah Omondi and Aslam Khan have been proposed for the position of acting majority leader while Benta Ndeda and Paul Achayo as acting deputy majority leader.
The source said they will wait for direction from the party whether the four MCAs will be put on vote to get a clear winner for the position or the party will make a direct choice.
The assembly has been rocked with wrangles that show a fracas last week in which Deputy Speaker Pamela Omino was injured and rushed to hospital. She has in the meantime been discharged from the hospital.
ODM party secretary general Ababu Namwamba then cracked the whip by suspending Ong’ou and Olum to allow for investigations by the disciplinary committee.
Ong’ou has in the meantime termed his suspension as illegal with Namwamba warning the two suspended leaders to stop issuing threats and appear before the committee to absolve themselves from the blame.
