Four men were on Friday arraigned before a Mombasa Law Court to answer to charges of defiling a 10-year-old girl and infecting her with HIV/Aids.
The four, Isaac Musembi, Komu Muthini, Onesmus Mbuvi and Mutingo Kimeu, who live in Moroto slums, denied the charges before Chief Magistrate Susan Shitubi.
In an affidavit presented to court, the investigative officer Ms Joyce Okemo requested the suspects not to be released on bail, and requested for a week to prepare the doctor’s report and P3 Form.
“Releasing the suspects on bail will put their lives in danger as they were escorted to Makupa Police Station by an angry mob who may take the law into their hands. The suspects may also escape,” she said.
Ms Okemo also told the court the four suspects will be taken to the Coast General Hospital to get tested for HIV.
The court heard that the four suspects bought the girl sweets, gave her money and even subjected her to pornographic movies before allegedly defiling her between September last year and April 2016.
The suspects will be arraigned in court on Thursday to take a plea.
