Four men have been released at Machakos police station after completed investigation proved they were not terrorists.

The four who were suspected to be terror suspects had been arrested by police following a tip from the public.

Confirming the claims, Machakos police boss, Adiel Nyange, said that the four were among a group of others who are from Mombasa and are in the town for a four-day seminar.

Speaking to journalists at his office, Nyange said that the organisers of the seminar, National AIDS and STI programme, showed up at the police station and confirmed that the four are among those who have attended the seminar.

He said: “They had come here for two days, for some training. There is no cause for alarm. Machakos is a safe place.”

Nyangwe also congratulated the public who gave the tip to the police and assured them that the police department is working day and night to ensure the security of all residents.

The four were arrested at 3pm in one of the clubs in Machakos as they were looking for accommodation rooms.
