Four police officers at Lake Naivasha were on Sunday attacked by a group of illegal fishermen where they sustained serious injuries.
The officers had been confiscating illegal fishing gear near Malewa bay when the group armed with crude weapons descended on them.
According to the Star, the group was involved in seining, a practice that has been on the rise.
Police are said to have acted on a tip-off and that they found a boat and nets used in the illegal trade.
Fishermen in the area have asked that security agents from Kenya Fisheries Services be dispatched to curb poaching.
