This comes after a loaded G3 riffle was stolen from the house of a constable in the area.

It is alleged that the day the weapon disappeared from Constable Kipyegon’s house, he had absconded duty saying he had an engagement elsewhere.

According to The Star, three other officers identified as Bundi, Sang and Kamau were on duty when the riffle disappeared from Kipyegon’s house in the police lane.

"The house had no signs of a break in and the door was intact,” said a source who sought anonymity.

Confirming the incident, Coast regional Commander Francis Wanjohi said they were investigating the matter.

"We are going to take them to court so as to open room for further investigations and interrogations,” said Wanjohi.

"We cannot tell exactly how the riffle was lost but we are on high alert especially now that we are experiencing an influx of al-Shabaab returnees from Somalia and others from the soon to be closed refugee camps,” he added.
