Central Organization of Trade Unions (Cotu) Secretary General Francis Atwoli has sensationally claimed that four politicians are plotting to assassinate him.
Speaking at the Tom Mboya Labour College in Kisumu on Saturday, the vocal unionist said his remarks during the Labour Day celebrations on May 1 at Uhuru Park has rattled a section of power brokers and want to eliminate him.
During the celebrations, Atwoli called for a constitutional review to ensure that more positions are created ahead of 2022.
“There is threat on my life and I have reliable information that four politicians have been planning on how to kill me and have hired assassins,” Atwoli said on Saturday.
The Cotu boss, however, said he is not scared and will continue to push for constitutional changes.
“We must have an all-inclusive constitution and that is my stand. It is a debate and if you do not agree with me, it does not mean that you have to eliminate me,” said Atwoli.
He added: “I said that President Uhuru is going to retire at a very young age and there is nothing wrong for him to occupy one of those positions.”
Awoli also said that political bigwigs like Mombasa Governor Hassan Joho, Kalonzo Musyoka, Musalia Mudavadi and Raila Odinga should be in government after the 2022 polls.
"In 2022, we want to see the following people in government: Hassan Joho, Kalonzo Musyoka, Uhuru Kenyatta, Gideon Moi, Raila Odinga or his representative, Musalia Mudavadi or Moses Wetangula," he said.
