The expose on Jacob Juma’s death done by Mohammed Ali on KTN's 'Kaburi la Wazi’ has elicited a lot of reaction especially after the pictures of one Cheryl Kitonga were seen on TV not to mention the private conversation between her and a taxi driver in a web of activities the late Juma engaged in before he was killed.
That aside, here are several reasons why some of the ladies in Nakuru and in Kenya at a large are making the same decision to be partly with their boyfriends while at the same time being with ‘sponsors’;
1) Sponsors are people who have families and are usually very busy. Due to this fact, they will not spend most of their time quizzing them about where they are, what they are doing etc, why a certain guy is commenting on their facebook pictures etc. In short they will not nag the ladies.
2) Most sponsors are willing to spend a lot of cash on the ladies as compared to their boyfriends who are stingy or have to depend on pocket money from their parents since they do not have jobs. The sponsors will not complain about being asked for money randomly whereas the boyfriends will keep on complaining that the girl spends too much money. This is a key factor as to why you lady will go for a sponsor.
3) Sponsors are people who have already structured their lives and have no time for games. With a sponsor, the girl knows what to expect in that she knows that the ‘relationship’ will not lead to marriage whereas in the case of boyfriends, the ladies are not sure whether their guys are in it for the long run or they are just experimenting.
4) Most sponsors are already financially stable and as a result, they will not expect the ladies to chip in incase of a hotel bill or any expenses unlike most boyfriends who will shamelessly ask their girlfriends for loans which they never pay back or to ‘help’ pay the bills.
Despite the above reasons and many more that are not outlined here, it is important to note that going for sponsors goes against the moral ethics not to mention the Christian teachings.
