Do you know you can miss your periods yet you are not pregnant? Many girls who are not ready for motherhood tend to panic whenever they miss periods. Well, here are four reasons you might miss your periods, other than being pregnant.
Severe diseases
A simple or serious illness can make you miss your periods. Any illness will stimulate your body to prioritize its functions. The body will choose to fight the illness rather than the menstrual cycle. Until when this illness is defeated is when you will receive your monthly periods.
Excessive workout
Excess exercising can lead to a defect in your body. Pushing your body too hard can lead to loss of estrogen that is important for the menstrual cycle. It can also make you miss your periods for three months in a row
Stress
Stress can make you miss your periods. Stress affects your brain part where hormones during your periods are regulated. This can cause late or completely miss your menstruation periods
Medication
Medication can be a reason for you to miss your periods. It happens when you are using pills for birth control. This will work by preventing the body from ovulating which in turn prevents periods. However, some people still experience irregular bleeding or normal period when on combined pills. Other medications will only delay your periods.
