Most parts of the country have been experiencing heavy downpours which are pound to cause accidents.
The Kenya Meteorological Department has cautioned motorist to careful while driving in the heavy rains.
In a bid to curb the perils that come with the rainy season, here are four simple rules to observe when driving while raining;
Speed limit
All motorist should ensure that they drive slowly in the rains as roads are slippery when wet. Driving slowly will increase stability in the vehicles and it also will allow the tyres to grip the road at all times hence motorist will have full control of their vehicles.
Lights
Make sure to turn on your headlights and they should be on low beam when driving to increase visibility.
Following distance
Keep a safe following between you and vehicle in front. If you drive too close to the vehicle in front of you, you are likely to crash if they brake suddenly. This will allow you to stop safely in case the unexpected happens. Ensure you double the distance between you and the vehicle in front.
Time management
Give yourself more time for heavy traffic due to rains.
