Four suspects accused of murdering Nakuru-based businessman Julius Kimani will now remain in remand for 14 days following prosecutions request for more time in order to complete investigations.
The prosecution made the request on Tuesday, January 2 when the suspects appeared before principal Magistrate Bernard Marara.
Marara accepted the request ordering the suspect to remain in remand for 14 days to pave way for completion of investigation.
The accused will now appear in court on January 17 2018 to be charged with murder.
According to the deceased family’s Lawyer Wahome Thuku, among the suspects is the spouse.
“Mr.Kimani was murdered on December 1 and so far four suspects among them the spouse have been arrested. The prosecution has applied for them to continue being held until January 17 to allow them complete the investigations,” he said.
The deceased's father James Mathew who was at the Magistrate’s court in Nakuru on Tuesday is optimistic that justice will prevail for the family.
Speaking to the press, Mathew said the death of his son shocked the family.
“Our prayer is that justice will prevail in this case” he said in a somber mood.
Kimani is said to have met his death on December 1 2017 as he drove in his vehicle to his home in Kiratina estate. He was attacked by a group of armed criminals who dragged and bundled him in their vehicle before they drove away.
The businessman was later found killed and dumped in a thicket at Manyani area,/approximately 15 kilometers away from his home.
The mutilated body was tied with ropes and had deep injuries on the head, chest, legs and hands.
It was lying in a pool of blood.
He is survived by a wife and four children.
