Kenyan legal system is drawn from the English one and so is the position of Senior Counsel (SC) which is borrowed from the English Queen’s Counsel (QC).
Senior counsels in Kenya are privileged with allocations of special seats in courts, allowed to wear special robes and given preference in dealing with the Judiciary, among other privileges.
Section 20 of the Advocates Act in Kenya also provides the senior counsels' precedence in addressing the court before any advocate, only the Attorney General and the Director of Public Prosecutions precedes them.
Senator James Orengo is one of the renowned Senior counsels in Kenya who hail from the Nyanza region.
His appearance in top cases has made him a household name in legal matters. However, he is not the only SC to hail from the Nyanza region.

3. Apollo Mboya: He is an advocate of the High Court and boasts of extensive experience in International Treaties and Agreements.
