This comes two months after EACC officers arrested 10 other police officers while taking bribes in Nakuru.

The officers were arrested at 9am on Thursday after EACC officers based in Nakuru sent out a monitoring team from 7am, who later pounced on the officers.

EACC deputy director in charge of South Rift region, Japhet Baithalu, said that more than four officers managed to escape their dragnet during the operation.

“We really faced resistance from the officers but we managed to arrest four of them,” said Baithalu.

The operation was prompted by numerous complaints received from members of the public.

He warned traffic police officers and drivers against engaging in corrupt activities saying that EACC officers were on the look out.

“During the operation, we managed to recover some cash from the officers which I wouldn’t disclose the amount because it would prejudice our case,” said Baithalu.

He added that the officers will be charged once his office liaises with the director of public prosecutions.

The officers recorded statements at EACC offices in Nakuru in the presence of their lawyer David Mong’eri before being locked up at railways police station.
