Tourists visiting the Fourteen Falls in Thika East have been urged to be cautious during the El Nino rains.
Speaking to journalists in his Gatuanyaga office on Monday, Thika East Deputy County Commissioner Solomon Komen, said Athi River where the falls are found, is expected to flood and therefore there is a need to be cautious.
"The Fourteen Falls are one of Kiambu County's most popular attractions. During the rains, we would like the tourists coming to visit the site to exercise caution due to the dangers that are involved when any river is flooded,” said Komen.
He also advised the tourists and nature walkers who will be visiting the falls during the period to seek the services of guides found at the site to minimise risks.
"Some are new visitors and might not be aware of the topography of the land which could pose great risks even to those on nature walks,” he said.
The deputy commissioner also warned the tourists against river adventures and boat rides during the period, stating that the river could be too risky for such activities.
