Mutahi Kahiga has been sworn in as the fourth Governor of Nyeri county.

Kahiga took over after his boss,  Governor Wahome Gakuru, died in tragic road crash.

He was Gakuru's deputy.

The Deputy Governor was inaugurated on Monday after religious leaders held a cleansing ceremony at the county headquarters.

The late Gakuru had served for only 90 days when he met his death.

Kahiga is now the fourth Governor of Nyeri after Nderitu Gachagua, Samuel Mathai and Wahome Gakuru.
