Finally Maseno University student Titus Okwadha will be laid to rest today in his Kombewa village in Seme, Kisumu County.
The student met his untimely death after being teargassed by the anti-riot police during students’ demonstration against IEBC last month in the university that led to its immediate and indefinite closure.
The body of the fourth year student pursuing a degree in school of business and economics will arrive in the university early today for last viewing and show of respect by Maseno university staff and students after then it will be ferried to his born village in Kombewa.
Already there is tension in the University over fear of possibility of eruption of violence by the students who are said to be planning a protest when the body arrives for viewing, a rumor that has attracted ant-riot police who have been spotted in most places of the institution patrolling.
Maseno University student leader, Linus Sang has urged his fellow students to remain peaceful during the body viewing to show their last respect to their departed comrade.
“It’s always painful when we lose our students during demonstration I understand but for the respect we have for our friend let us just maintain a peaceful environment meanwhile, “Sang’ told Hivisasa.
