The fatal accident was occasioned by a matatu that lost control on the road after the mechanic put it for testing and the driver couldn’t control it.

Winnie Kerubo, was in her final year taking Bachelor of Commerce, and succumbed to death after she was on her way from Town Campus heading to the Main Campus.

Kerubo was then rushed to Kisii Teaching and Referral Hospital where she was pronounced dead.

The matatu driver was also rushed to the hospital for medication by Good Samaritans.

Addressing the students, Kisii University students’ president, Rodgers Salgado, expressed his heartfelt condolences to the family of the fallen comrade and urged the county government to ensure that they put up bumps along the highway lest they face the students’ wrath.

“We are shocked and demand answers as to why university students are perishing along this road. This is why comrades are agitating for their rights, we therefore give the Kisii County government a warning to erect bumps within a period of three days failure to which we shall resort for an alternative,” he said.
