National Assembly Minority Leader Francis Nyenze’s former bodyguard, Nimrod Mbithuka Mbai has won the Kitui East constituency.
Mbai, a former police officer, defied all odds to beat his opponents hands down in one of the most watched races in the area. Just like other police officers guarding the lives of politicians, Mbai never thought one day he will become a Member of Parliament.
However, he kept his political dream burning until this year when he turned it into a reality. Mbai was appointed to guard Nyenze in 1998, which made him one of the youngest police officers in the service.
The newly elected politician used to escort Nyenze from his home to the parliamentary building among other places when he was the minister. Mbai has promised to change the lives of the residents during the next five years.
The vocal politician won the hearts of many residents with the pledge to transform their lives. The lawmaker has assured the residents that he will ensure that they benefit from the resources channeled to the constituency during his reign as the MP.
