Kabogo was cleared on Friday, after Migori principal magistrate Peter Ndwiga said evidence provided in the court was insufficient to build a case against the Kiambu Governor.

"The death was not a homicide," Ndwiga said, adding that Kabogo was not at the scene when Keino's body was found.

Caretaker Charles Macharia and Scolstica Kamemba, two witnesses to the case had directly linked Kabogo to the murder.

Director of prosecutions had orderd an inquest into the death of Keion, after the police who were working on the case failed to nail any suspect to the murder.

Keino’s body was found on Waiyaki Way on June 17, 2011, a few hours after she had attended a party hosted by Kabogo.

It is claimed that the party had turned violent, with Keino throwing a glass at Kabogo.

On his part, Kabogo denied assaulting Keino, saying the allegations were politically motivated.
