The Nakuru county government has waived parking fees for all the vehicles which will be in the county on Saturday for the thanksgiving prayers.
Nakuru county speaker Susan Kihika said that was their own small way of appreciating the choice by the country leadership to choose this location.
“We would not like to lock anyone out of the prayers or even feel unwelcome just because his car is towed away,” said Kihika.
Kihika and governor Kinuthia Mbugua were speaking to the press at the County Assembly after a closed-door session meeting with the MCAs on Thursday where they added that this was a small way to make “the visitors feel at home.”
Mbugua appealed to public transport owners to ferry people to the venue, saying many in the remote places would want to attend but transport was a major challenge.
“We are calling on all schools to offer their vehicles and even private bus owners to bring people to this auspicious occasion which marks the freedom of Kenyans.’ He added.
He challenged leaders from all parties to be actively involved in the event.
“The event is beyond party politics but it is a great way to bridge peace between all tribes and age groups.” He added.
