One hundred students from Kisii Central ward in Nyaribari Chache will be sponsored for a computer training course by Sir Henry Foundation, a community-based organization.
Speaking to this reporter on Wednesday in Kisii town, the CBO’s founder and chief executive officer, Nickson Nyakweba, said already 70 youth are enrolled in a three-month computer training course.
Nyakweba said they have partnered with Africa International College of Management and Technology.
“We are intending to equip form four school leavers with computer skills before they join a professional course. We are targeting 100 students where currently, we have 70 students who have begun their classes,” he said.
He said the foundation is giving geometrical sets to standard eight pupils saying that majority of candidates fail because of lack of enough materials.
“We came up with the idea to equip candidates with a geometrical set due to poverty, majority may not afford it,” he added.
Among the schools that the CBO has donated geometrical sets to include; Gekomu, Kiamabudu, Nyaura, Nyansancha primary schools among others.
He said all primary schools in the ward will benefit before the commencement of Kenya Certificate Primary Examinations (KCPE).
