The clinic is meant to benefit students and members of the public in Njoro and Nakuru. The event will be held at the Human Anatomy Complex at the faculty of health sciences at the university in Njoro.

Prof Agnes Thimbiri, the dean of the faculty, said that the free eye clinic will be part of the celebrations of the Confucius Institute’s 10th anniversary and 50th anniversary of the Lions Club and also the 1st anniversary of the Human Anatomy Complex.

The complex has facilities including a morgue that serves residents in Nakuru County as a whole. It was officially opened by President Uhuru Kenyatta in September last year.

Speaking from her office at the faculty of health sciences headquarters based at Milimani near the Rift Valley General Hospital, Prof Thimbiri said the event is important to the three institutions and the surrounding community.

“This event is very important because it will enhance awareness of the three organisations as well as benefiting the community,” said Prof Thimbiri.

Confucius Institutes and Lions Clubs are non-profit making organisations based in several public universities in the country and across the world.
