Thika residents have been urged to attend an eye screening camp at Thika Level Five Hospital on Thursday this week.
The exercise which will be conducted by the facility in partnership with City Eye Hospital will start at 8am and end at 2pm and residents with diabetes and hypertension have particularly been asked to attend.
Speaking at the hospital on Monday, Thika Level Five Superintendent Andrew Toro noted that the exercise provided a good opportunity for residents to access quality free eye screening from qualified personnel who would advise them accordingly in case of any problem.
"This is a rare opportunity and we are calling upon residents to come out in numbers and receive the free eye screening," said Toro.
He added: "Those with hypertension and diabetes are more so advised to come. Diabetes patients can lose their ability to see without prior warning and that is why screening is essential."
Toro noted that the hospital's Opthalmology unit was not fully equipped thus calling a need for such partnerships.
