Freedom of the media is key to development of the country and should be safe guarded.
Masese Kemunche from the Centre for Enhancing Democracy and Good Governance for article 10 of the constitution to be realised, there must be free media.
Speaking to the press in Nakuru on Tuesday even as the world commemorated the World Press Freedom Day, Masese called on the stakeholders in the media to ensure their rights are not violated at any given time.
"Access to information, press freedom and sustainable development is key in this Nation and even as we commemorate this day I would urge the media to keep up the spirit and ensure the freedom if media prevails," stated Masese.
He, however, called on journalists to ensure in depth analysis of issues before publishing.
"Never tire in holding state and leaders to account for thus the essence of journalism," he added.
This year's theme was Access to Information, Press Freedom and Sustainable Development.
