Hundreds of Muslim faithful attending the Fridays Eid-ul-adhah prayers at the Ronald Ngala grounds in Tudor will enjoy free transport courtesy of the Matatu Owners Association Coast region branch.
The Coordinator Salim Mbarack Salim said that the organization was treating Muslim faithful for a 12 year in a row by offering free transport from 6 am in the morning.
Speaking in Mombasa on Thursday evening Mbarack said that the course was worthy since Eid ul-adhah was a bigger event in the Islamic calendar and the Matatu Owners Association could not bless the Muslim any better than offering free transport.
“We have been doing this exercise for both Eid Ul-fitri and Eid- Ul-Hajj for the last 12 years, and we will carry on as an annual exercise” he said.
Mbarack said that the exercise will not only benefit Muslims from Mombasa County but also those from Mtwapa in Kilifi County.
“Our Matatu’s will be stationed at Mtwapa, Shanzu, Bamburi, Likoni caltex grounds, Changamwe, Tudor and Mwembe tayari area within the CBD” he added.
Mbarack said that the exercise has been very successful in the past years and they expect many Muslims to benefit from the free transport exercise organized by Matatu owners association.
Eid Ul-adhah is commemorated after 9 days of fasting while on the 9 day Muslims throw stones to hit the devil at the holy town of Meccah in Saud Arabia where over two million Muslims have gone to commemorate and pay the pilgrimage.
