Nakuru residents have been urged to share information frequently with security agents in order to improve community policing in the area.
According to Nakuru East Community policing committee chairman Ibrahim Ogeto, the public should not shy off sharing information.
“The community should not shy off sharing information as this will help avert the crimes in the area and will be a boost to the whole community,” he said.
He added that as community policing they will continue to do their best in ensuring good relations between the police officers and the community.
Since the establishment of community policing committees in various sub-counties, there has been improved security.
Community-based policing (CBP) is an approach to policing that brings together the police, civil society and local communities to develop local solutions to local safety and security concerns.
This improves community safety, reduce crime and the fear of crime, enhance access to justice and create more peaceful communities.
CBP, whilst a policing style, is also an attitude of mind, both for the police and for the public.
It involves a profound shift in police and community thinking about policing.
