According to Elgeyo Marakwet police boss, Shatif Abdalla, the victim was taken to Eldoret for treatment.

The attack came barely a day after Deputy President William Ruto and other leaders visited the region to preach peace while at the same promising that the perpetrators of the attacks will brought to book.

Prior to the DP's visit, three attacks had been reported.

Abdalla further added that elders from the communities had already started reconciliation process aimed at bringing a lasting solution.

"Our leaders must sit and agree on this issue of security because it is leading to the loss of lives of our people, we must have a conclusion to this and the sooner the better," said Abdalla.
