The High Court recently nullified the agency's directive barring Moi and Mt Kenya universities from offering the programme.

Moi University administration says it will drag the council to court for contempt of law.

The Dean School of Law, Maurice Oduor, accused Prof Kulundu Bitonye of getting personal in the way he was handling the licensing of universities teaching law.

“We are also seeking minutes of the board which authorised him to publish names of the universities. As far as we are concerned, there is no such board,” said Mr Oduor.

On April 4, a High Court ruling nullified the council’s order requiring Moi and Mt Kenya universities to stop offering the courses, noting that the council had no jurisdiction to withdraw accreditation of universities, hence leaving the renowned institution of legal education to run its business uninterrupted.

Last year, the CLE had issued a directive to Moi School of Law to shut down, citing inability to offer legal education due to limited facilities in the institution.

In a Gazette notice published Friday, the Council through CEO Dr Bitonye insisted that the two universities were not fit to offer the courses.

The only universities allowed to offer the courses by CLE are; Riara, Kisii, Africa Nazarene, Nairobi, Kabarak, Egerton, Strathmore and Kenyatta University.
