Residents of Nyamira County have raised concern over the dubious ways on how the health department is operating.
Locals led by Justus Obiero accused the minister for health Douglas Bosire for allegedly colluding with other cartels to embezzle funds meant to improve the health services in the county.
“Despite governor Nyagarama’s efforts to improve the health services in the county, the health department failed terribly.
"Nurses and doctors are currently using ‘OMO’ to sterilize theatre equipments instead of using the funds allocated to the department to buy chemicals to sterilize the equipments,” said Obiero.
Obiero said Bosire should be blamed for the nurses and doctors’ strikes in the county.
"We are aware of how Bosire has been diverting money meant to pay salaries to nurses and doctors in Nymira County. It is time governor Nyagarama to take action and improve health services in the region,” he added.
Another resident Kefah Moenga claimed that clinical officers who are on internship in the county health centers have not received their upkeep pay of Sh3,000 for the last 7 months.
“Clinical officers who have been serving at Nyamira County hospitals have not received upkeep pay of Sh3,000 for the last 7 months," he said.
