It is barely a week after NASA presidential candidate Raila Odinga and his running mate Kalonzo Musyoka lost to President Uhuru Kenyatta in the August 8, polls and now the pressure is mounting on Kalonzo's grip on Ukambani politics.

Ukambani leaders led by defeated Kitui gubernatorial seat candidate David Musila have spoken of their desire not to work with the opposition for the next five years.

"It will not be in our best interest to stay in opposition as Ukambani. We don't think as Ukambani leaders it will be good to stay in the opposition for the next five years," said Musila.

The leaders said the Ukambani community will not be held to ransom by one man(Kalonzo) but they may have to work with Uhuru's government.

Kalonzo has long been viewed as the political king of Ukambani politics, however, results from recent polls have placed his position as the de facto leader of the region in jeopardy following losses in crucial seats in Machakos, and Kitui counties.
