The nation is warming up to the October 26 repeat polls despite a wave of uncertainty in areas affiliated to the opposition coalition NASA led by Raila Odinga.
On Wednesday ugly scenes were witnessed in parts of Kisumu and Vihiga where disgruntled NASA supporters raided and vandalised materials used by IEBC officers for civic education after calls by their leaders that October 26 elections will not take place.
The electoral commission has this week been faced with a lot of disturbing questions after Commissioner Roselyn Akombe resigned and spelt some fears that Kenyans may not get a chance to witness free, fair, and credible polls.
IEBC chairman Wafula Chebukati also talked about some internal forces from top politicians class who are keen to muzzle the powers of his commission to afford Kenyans credible polls.
However, despite all these questions surrounding the IEBC, on Thursday, the commission can now rest easy after the African Election Observer Group (AEOG) became one of the first institutions to give them a clean bill of health.
According to the observers, IEBC has the capacity to deliver a free, fair, and credible poll on October 26, they further urged Kenyans to rally behind the commission and ensure next week they turn out in large numbers to exercise their democratic right.
