The controversial preacher had been accused of killing a pedestrian, Mercy Njeri a couple of years ago (2015), in what witnesses say was drunk driving.

Limuru Chief Magistrate Godfrey Oduor delivered a judgement in favour of Ng'ang'a, citing lack of evidence by the prosecution.

"It was shocking for the court to acquit him. We wish to reiterate that taxpayers cannot pay judges to commit injustices to the poor," said one of Njeri's kinsmen.

He added: "The corruption and incompetence in the judiciary is unbearable. The only honest thing Maraga can now do is just to voluntarily resign."

Before October 2017 presidential repeat polls, President Uhuru Kenyatta had threatened to 'fix' the judiciary following nullification of his August victory.

In his various media briefings, Maraga has always defended the judiciary and how he will deal with the latest protests in Limuru, remains a mystery.
