Kenyans have lost hope in the judiciary for just one simple reason; it does not prosecute the 'big men' in the government.
This lost hope may just be restored following fresh charges levelled against Machakos senator Johnson Muthama and seven others over purchase of 5,000 acre Mulili ranch.
As usual, Kenyans thought the case was thrown away as they usually do when 'big fishes' are involved but the court made a u-turn to open the charges afresh.
This is a step in the right direction and the judiciary may just wash its tarnished name if they handle the case without fear or favour.
The eight were charged with abuse of office and not adhering to procurement procedures.
Amongst those entangled in the scandal include former information PS Bitange Ndemo and former land commissioner Zablon Agwata.
The case will be heard on April 1, 2016.
