Days after President Uhuru Kenyatta's visit to Western Kenya groanings have been heard from the residents who feel cheated by their leaders.
The residents mostly sugarcane farmers said before Uhuru's tour they had been promised by Jubilee MPs in the region that the President will address their development concerns. However, Uhuru's itinerary was changed hence canceling numerous activities.
National Federation of Sugarcane Famers deputy Secretary General Simon Wesechere said sugarcane farmers had been eagerly waiting for Uhuru to air their grievances.
"It is unfortunate that Uhuru had to cancel most of the activities when farmers were prepared to engage him over their plight," said Wesechere.
However, MP allied to Jubilee Party led by Mumias East MP Benjamin Washiali defended the President over the cancellation of his tour in the area.
"The President shall have more time to look into issues of development when he tours next," said Washiali.
