After speculations from opposition leaders that the chaos that took place on Monday at Posta grounds in Migori county were a government plot to assassinate Mombasa governor Ali Hassan Joho, the State has responded.

On Thursday, government spokesman Erick Kiraithe dismissed the claims saying the opposition is just fabricating lies to paint the Jubilee administration in bad light.

"As we know, there is a group of politicians who always stir chaos to gain political sympathy and we know what they are doing. The government is investigating," he said.

"We should not blame the police when they think an area is not safe to host a public rally, their advice does not mean you cannot hold a rally if the area is safe," he added.

After the Migori chaos where Joho's bodyguard sustained bullet wounds, the governor sent a statement to newsroom claiming that the attack was carried out by well-trained security officers specifically the National Intelligence Service (NIS).
