The debate on whom the National Super Alliance (NASA) should front to battle it out with President Uhuru Kenyatta is likely to take a different twist after fresh details emerged on how Cord leader Raila Amolo promised ANC leader Musalia Mudavadi presidential ticket if he crosses over to his side, reports Star.
According to the local daily, Wiper Party Patron Stephen Kalonzo Musyoka was to take the post of deputy President and Raila the Prime Minister if NASA ascends to power come August.
Speaking to the Star, Godfrey Kanoti, who is Mudavadi’s campaign official said that his boss was motivated to join Raila side because of the promise.
“This was a gentleman’s agreement that was struck late last year and we expect that it will be honoured,” Kanoti said.
ODM director of elections Junet Mohamed has, however, rubbished the allegations from Mudavadi’s team terming it baseless.
“I do not think there is anything like that. Raila cannot make such a decision alone and if there is anything of that nature, it must be bar talk,” Mohamed said.
The issue of NASA flag bearer has continued to attract mixed reactions from different leaders.
According to analysts, the choice of flag bearer will determine whether they will beat Jubilee or not.
