Fresh details have emerged of Deputy President William Ruto's newly refurbished home.
The government is in a rush to refurbish the DP's second home that is based in the Coast and is expected to cost the taxpayer a whooping Sh46.5 million.
According to the Business Daily, the last occupant of the house was former Coast Provincial Commissioner and the region's former Regional Coordinator Samuel Kilele and ever since he left the luxurious investment, it has never been rehabilitated.
The house's rehabilitation comes days after it was reported again that the government would spend an additional Sh50 million in building the DP an office in Mombasa.
During his visits to Mombasa, the DP will be expected to spend time at his official residence as opposed to spending time in hotels as it has always been. President Uhuru Kenyatta, during his visits to Mombasa, spends tie at State House Mombasa.
Besides the Mombasa home, Ruto also has a Sh400 million palatial residence in Nairobi's Karen area and spends most of the time hosting delegations there. The Karen residence is also expected to be rehabilitated at a cost of Sh15.6 million.
Ruto is also constructing a Sh1 billion residence in his rural area in Uasin Gishu and the investment is complete with a man-made lake and an airstrip.
