A voter is reported to have written to the electoral body, the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) seeking access to the Commission's physical servers.

In a letter to chairman Wafula Chebukati, Koitamet Ole Kina, also wants access to information stored in the servers, failure to which he will move to court, to seek orders to access the information.

Citing Article 35 of the 2010 Constitution, Ole Kina said every citizen has the right of access to information held by the State and information held by any other person and required for the exercise or protection of any right or fundamental freedom. He wants information on Biometric Voters Register (BVR), administrative logs, user access logs for the Results Transmission system, and information on KIEMS kits allocation in the August 8 general election and their GPRS details.

"I request that the information be provided to me within the next seven (7) days hereof failure to which I shall enforce my legal rights in having the information in your possession availed to me," read part of the letter, seen by Kenyans.co.ke.

His letter comes days after IEBC denied the Opposition's access to the servers, despite Supreme Court directing it to give the access, following the presidential petition, contesting Uhuru Kenyatta's re-election.

NASA has since accused IEBC of intentionally failing to open the servers, to hide its 'rot'.

However, IEBC is yet to comment about the said letter.
