The push to have Deputy Chief Justice Philomena Mwilu and Justice Isaac Lenaola removed from office is still ongoing.Civil society groups have now planned to protest outside the Supreme Court from next week to demand for the resignation of the two judges.Their move comes days after a Kenyan, Derrick Ngumu, the Executive Director of Angaza Empowerment Network filed petitions at the Judicial Service Commission last week against the two judges accusing them of gross misconduct.According to Ngumu, Mwilu and Lenaola communicated secretly with lawyers and emissaries who were representing the NASA flag bearer Raila Odinga and his running mate Kalonzo Musyoka during the hearing of the presidential election petition that saw President Uhuru Kenyatta's win nullified. The two judges were among the four who supported the annulment of Uhuru's victory while to opposed. In a letter addressed to the Inspector General of police, the Civil Society Development Group (CSDG) has noted it will hold demonstrations from Tuesday."Take note that our actions will be aggressive and peaceful, assertive and honorable oriented towards ensuring both Judges do not access and do not discharge their mandate at the Supreme Court of Kenya until their case is heard and determined by the Judicial Service Commission," a letter signed by George Miringu read in part."We therefore request you to provide all the necessary facilitation, access and security to allow us to discharge our constitutional rights of action against persons and activities odious to the integrity of the Judiciary," added the letter.
