The secret deal brokered between Raila Odinga and his political nemesis President Uhuru Kenyatta could face an acid test during by elections in the recently concluded cases.

Four seats would be up for grabs with Raila Odinga insisting that his party would keenly eye two of the seats that were previously held by Jubilee politicians.

"ODM will revamp and even encroach our competitors territory. WE shall ensure Wajir gubernatorial seat and Turkana Women Representative seats are captured,' he said on Tuesday.

Governor Mohammed Abdi lost his seat through a petition by his predecessor Ahmed Abdullahi of ODM while Turkana Women Rep Joyce Emanikor suffered a similar fate.

Interestingly, Raila's close ally and embattled Embakasi East MP Babu Owino, has already reached out to Uhuru asking for support after losing petition filed by Jubilee's Francis Mureithi.

"I have already burn a lot and I do not want it anymore. I urge the president to rescue me from the fire," he said.

In fact, both Raila and Uhuru would find it difficult to campaign for their candidates in those areas given their recent unity.

Also, similar fate awaits the two leaders in Wajir West constituency where a KANU aspirant successfully petitioned ODM's Ahmed Kolosh.

Should the two principals stick to their candidates, political pundit Gideon Mamboleo says, then the union could be short lived.

"It is a life time test. How they will approach the by elections will really matter," he says.
