Every Pastor has a history of how he came into the Ministry. There are those who become Pastors by design, while others become Pastors by default.

But for Victory World Outreach Church, Kisumu Chapel Pastor Patrick Ominde, his journey to salvation and then ministry started way back while in High School.

“I got saved while in form one at the Mundika High School in Busia County in 1988. This was after Chairman of the Christian Union (CU) preached to us,” he said.

He was then elected Organizing Secretary of the CU and later Chairman while in form four. After form four, Pastor Ominde said he went to Nairobi to seek for employment.

“God spoke to me in a dream for four times but initially, I was not willing to drop everything to serve him. I only strongly made up my mind when I lost the morale to take up any job,” he said.

“I left a job in a security company that was paying me Sh750 per day. Back then, in 1994 that was a lot of money,” recalls the Pastor.

He then started house to house evangelism, before joining Blessed Church in Runda. He later moved out of the Church after the then Pastor declined to ‘embrace the holy spirit’ and joined Abundant Life Ministries.

His stay at the Abundant Life Ministries was not long lived though. He moved out after the Bishop become mad at him for failing to attend Church service one Sunday. It is then that he joined the Victory World Outreach Church in Nairobi, and got a chance to grow into the ministry.

“After joining the Church, I initiated various things such as morning glory,” he said.

He was directed to move out of Nairobi to go and open a new Church in Kisumu.

“The Church made all arrangements for me to travel and settle in Kisumu. I was given a mixer and two speakers,” he narrated.

After settling in Kisumu, the first service was attended by 11 members in his house after conducting various door-to-door fellowships.

“From there, the number grew and we had to start looking for a hall somewhere to rent. At the start, it was very challenging. I remember one time I was thrown out of the house and out of the church because of not having paid rent. For this far we have come, God is faithful,” he said.

Victory World Outreach Church – Kisumu Chapel is based in Obunga, Kisumu Central. From the 11 people he started with, the Church now has 281 members with.

“This Church is headed towards an International Ministry,” he said.
