Embakasi East Member of Parliament Paul Ongili alias Babu Owino has gone through thick and thin to become who he is today.
The controversial legislator came from a humble background where her mother had to engage in small businesses to make ends meet.
Having being raised in Kondele slum, Kisumu county, Babu Owino ought to receive praises for defying the odds to become one of the most successful leaders today.
Back in primary school, Babu's hard work enabled him to scoop 394 marks which earned him a rare opportunity to study at Mangu High School.
Unfortunately, he could not raise the school fees, so he wasn't able to join the prestigious school.
After failing to join Mangu High School, Babu was lucky to obtain a sponsor who paid school fees for him to pursue secondary education.However, Babu had no option but to accept to learn at a local school in Kisumu where he maintained his hard work.
He successfully completed his secondary education scoring an A- at the Kisumu High School.
Following the good results, Babu joined the University of Nairobi where he pursued an Actuarial Science degree and graduated with first class honors.
During his time at the university, he was elected the Student Organization of Nairobi University (SONU) chairman a position that kick started his leadership journey.
After his university education, he joined active politics and was in 2017 elected Embakasi East legislator on an Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) ticket.
