Before 2013 election, little was known about Joshua Aduma Owuor. The man from 'nowhere' had joined the race for the Nyakach constituency parliamentary seat and was to face off with the incumbent Polyns Ochieng.
Ochieng is remembered for beating all odds to send home Peter Odoyo during the 2007 election.
Aduma's first task in dislodging Ochieng was to bag the ODM ticket. And he silenced his doubters when he easily defeated the incumbent in the nominations as his political career officially took off.
During the March 4 election, Aduma confirmed his new status as the new sheriff in town when he finally won the seat by a landslide. A giant killer had sent home another giant killer.
However, the newly-elected MP endured a torrid 2013 as his parents were murdered in arsonist attack. But despite all the challenges, he remained true to the cause.
Then in 2016, came an attempt on his own life as his car was torched leaving his reelection bid under threat. But he emerged back strong to clinch his seat during the 2017 contest. Aduma had simply become unbeatable.
With attention now shifting to 2022, the former Nairobi City Council Legal Officer who is now a central figure in Kisumu politics is said to eyeing the Senatorial seat. With his newfound political clout, he is the man to beat even as his popularity soars.
