Throughout his teen, Anyona, an Alliance High School and Makerere University graduate, spent his life in opposing establishment, a move that would later land him in various prisons across Kenya.

"I want to remember Anyona as a special hero to me. He died poor but defended his people," Raila Odinga once described him.

But unknown to many, in 1998 when Moi was facing impeachment motion, Anyona then serving under KSC, was one of masterminds behind the collapsing of the impeachment motion

At the requiem mass of Mark Too, Gatundu South MP Moses Kuria recalled how .Anyona shocked parliament by defending Moi despite having detained him.

"Mark together with Anyona helped Moi survive impeachment filed by Mwai Kibaki and seconded by Orengo. Anyona helped Moi for the first time," he said.

The flamboyant opposition politician passed on in 2003 through road accident after serving for 13 years as MP.

During the tense session, his late brother Mageto Moseti said, Anyona warned his opposition counterparts of possible riots across the country and subsequent instability should they have proceeded with the motion.

To thwart the motion further, Kuria added, Anyona reached moderate opposition politicians who he convinced against voting for the motion.
